spend quality time with your family while encouraging fitness with Macher Swim
School.
Benefits for all
participants:
- Develop
strength, endurance, flexibility, and stress reduction (physically and
mentally)
- Help
provide a wholesome atmosphere strengthening family bonding through
fitness training in swimming together
- Improve
swimming skills
- Improve
knowledge of fitness development through swimming
- Make
contacts with other families with similar interests
- Use
swimming as a personal ‘retreat’ for improved mental health. Swimming can uniquely provide this
opportunity in some of the following ways:
- While
swimming, one’s face is in the water, cutting them off from out-side
stimulation. (vision and hearing)
- By
reducing distractions, the swimmer is able to focus on their own concerns
and problem-solve, let-go of problems, plan events, ‘think’, or let their
mind wonder.
- Making
a commitment to train regularly is important. Recommended minimum frequency is twice
per week.
Eligibility:
- Be
able to swim 50 yards or more without stopping
- Be
able to swim crawl stroke (freestyle) and one other stroke
- Be
members of the same immediate family or close relative
