2011 Programming

Dates & Hours of Operation

· Opening day: Saturday, May 28, 2011

· Closing day: Sunday, September 11, 2011

· Regular Hours: 11am-8pm, except Tuesday and Thursday nights when we will stay open until 9pm.

· Hours: Week days during early and late season, when Columbia public school is in session we will be open Tuesday and Friday 4-7:30pm. Our weekend and Holiday schedule will remain the same: 11am—8pm.

We will again have some programming that overlaps with member usage times. Any questions on this should be directed toward Joanne Macher. Thank you.

Swim Lessons

Cost: 2x/week classes—six classes /session: members $54, non-members $60

Single class rate: $11/class

Three is the minimum number of students per class. We will have some swimming lessons scheduled during the times we have member usage times.

Advanced Aquatic Lessons

· Water Polo --- 6 classes, 75 minutes in length, Mon. & Wed. 10:45-12:00pm

Sessions: See above dates relating to swim lessons (members $65, non-members $72).

Pre-test: be able to swim 50 yards or more and tread water one minute or longer. Instructor: Mark Golden,

Head swim team and water polo coach

· Canoeing --- 3 classes, 90 minutes in length, Fri. 10:00-11:30am.

Session #1 June 11, 18, & 25, Session #2 July 9, 16, & 23 (members $55, non-members $60.00).

Minimum age: 8. Pre-test: be able to swim 50 yards or more and tread water one minute or longer.

Macher’s Water Dogs -- Summer Swim Team

The goal of the Water Dogs recreational summer team is to give kids an introduction to competitive swimming and to have fun. Emphasis is placed on fun, skill development, and making friends. The Water Dogs are members of the Show-Me Conference and compete in the Columbia area.

Parent Meeting: We will have a parent meeting Fri. April 22, right after Race Day (a practice meet).and/or Fri. May 20, right after Race Day (a practice meet); upstairs at Macher Swim School. For more Macher Water Dog information check the Macher Water Dog information sheet 2011.

Adult Training

Practices: Tuesday and Thursday 8-9pm. Coached workouts with technique work training tips. Minimum number of swimmers—4

o June 13 First session of swimming lessons begin this week

o Wed., June 15 Water Dogs home meet at 4:30pm with Wilson’s Beach Club

The pool closes at 4:00pm for the swim meet.

o July 27 Third (last) session of swimming lessons begins this week.

o Sat. August 13 Member Appreciation Day & BBQ, 5:30-7:00pm. This is a great event…locally grown meat and vegetables free and fixed for you. ‘Thank-you’ for joining Macher Aquatic Center in 2010. This is normally for members only event, however, if you wish to bring a guest there will be a $10 charge per guest for today.

o August 22, Sun. Family Fun Event: End of Summer Back to School Bash—Hawaiian Luau, 6:00-9:00pm. See Special Events & Nights Out Events information for details.

o Sun., September 11 Macher Aquatic Center’s last day, we will close at 8:00pm. We hope you had a great summer with us. Thank you for joining.

o Other events will be posted on the bulletin board in the hallway at Macher Aquatic Center and on the Macher Swim School ‘Facebook’ page.

Pool Rentals

A non-refundable deposit of $25 is due at the time of booking the rental. The manager on duty may be paid at the time of the rental. The patron shall provide one adult for every 8 children.
· Non-exclusive use
(Non-exclusive use is available to members only, except with special permission from Joanne Macher.)

These are hours that we are normally open for recreational swim or programming. Maximum amount of time for this booking is 2 hours; maximum number of attendees is 20. The booking fee is $25. This reserves 2 tables at the pavilion or sun deck area for 2 hours. Per swimmer charge $3.00.
· Exclusive use

This use is during hours that we are normally not open. Minimum time for this booking is 2 hours.

Booking fee: Members --- $35.00/hour Non-Members --- $50.00/hour

Plus, the following fees will apply for the number of guests:

1-30 --- $3.75/guest, 31-100 --- $2.75/guest, 101-200 --- $2/guest

General Information:

Guest passes

a. Guest passes are $5.00 per person two years old & older.

b. Guests under two years of age do not need a guest pass.

c. Members must accompany and be responsible for their guests.

d. A family may bring no more than 4 guests at any one time.
Guidelines for inclement weather

a. During stormy/raining conditions we will close for two hours and then try to reopen. If it is stormy/raining after 4:00pm we will close for the day.

b. Lightning: If lightning is spotted we will clear the pool and deck area for about 20 minutes and resume swimming if appropriate. This will be repeated for a second lightning sighting. However, on the third lightning sighting we will close the pool for two hours and follow the preceding guidelines for stormy/rainy weather.

c. We will close if the air is 550 or colder or if the water is 650 or colder.

Policies/Rules

a. There is no charge for nannies. However, a guest fee will apply for more than one nanny at a time.

b. Families over six will be charged an additional $25.00 per person plus tax.

c. Parents and childcare providers are asked to keep an especially close watch on children five years of age and younger.

d. Children ten years old or younger must have adult supervision (16 years or older).

e. We will have snacks and beverages available. However, you are welcome to bring coolers and picnic baskets. No glass containers or alcohol. Please pick-up after yourself, your family, and your guests before you leave. Thank you.

f. To pass the deep-water swim test one must be able to swim a minimum of 60 feet.

g. No one is allowed to catch anyone off the diving board without Joanne Macher’s prior approval.

h. Member fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

i. No Glass. Do not bring glass onto the pool deck or inside the gate. Thank you.

j. Smoking, alcohol, profanity, and firearms are NOT allowed on the Center’s grounds.

k. Members and their guests are expected to behave in a respectful, courteous and responsible manner.

l. Anyone 80 pounds or heavier may not use the slide. Adults may stand in the water at the end of the slide to catch children…water depth is 4’6”.

m. No throwing objects to patrons as they go off the diving board or the slide.

n. Anyone 170 pounds or heavier may not use the diving board without Joanne Macher’s permission.

o. Patrons going off of the diving board may not wear, carry, or jump onto floatation devices.

p. Arm floats are not considered safety devices. An attending adult should be within 12 feet of the child who is wearing them.

q. Dress in appropriate attire for a family swimming facility: No cut-offs, No thong bikinis, etc. The decision of the Center’s management on these issues is final.

r. The Center reserves the right to revoke (without refund) a membership should the member not comply with the policies and the rules of the Center. Joanne Macher will have the final decision on this matter.
